Taylor Swift? You Flatter Me!

Updated: Nov 13, 2020

Have you ever been mistaken for Taylor Swift? I have!

Yes, I realize I look nothing like her. And OK, I'm OLDER! (Please, let's just leave it at that.) There really was a time when people in my own community thought I was Taylor Swift! Here's how it happened.

When my son was in first grade, his classmates found out I'd written a book about her. It was in their school library, and kids got very excited about it. But there was some confusion among these 6- and 7-year olds as word got around. Some understood that their classmate's mom wrote a book about Taylor Swift. And others began asking my son, "Is your mom Taylor Swift?"

Eventually, I visited the class. There I was - live and in person - and I swear, some of those little kids STILL asked if I was Taylor Swift!

First graders are the best!
